Spring Contest Season

Once again, we are approaching contest season for Toastmasters.

Each Spring, we hold the International Speech Contest and the Table Topics Contest.

Our area contest will be held on March 26th, so our club is planning to hold our International Speech Contest on March 9th and our Table Topics Contest on March 23rd.

For the International Speech Contest, contestants must have completed at least six speeches from the Competent Communicator Manual.  This year, we have six members who are eligible to compete, compared to two eligible members last year.  We’re hoping to have all six compete and make it a big event.

For the Table Topics Contest, any member in good standing is eligible to compete and we’re hoping for a good turnout for that as well.

I’m planning to compete in both contests.  However, I won’t be using the contest to fulfill a Competent Communicator requirement like I did for the Humorous Speech Contest because my only CC Project left is project 10, Inspire Your Audience.  The speech for project 10 needs to be eight to ten minutes long and contest speeches are limited to a length of five to seven minutes.
